Code of conduct

The guide is built by people across Nigeria's many communities. This is how we work together.

Our standard#

Everyone participating in NCSG spaces — issues, discussions, pull requests, events — agrees to:

  • Engage with ideas, not people. Critique the guidance and the evidence; never the contributor.
  • Respect Nigeria's diversity. No disparagement of any ethnicity, language, religion, region, gender or disability. Debates about language guidance must never become debates about whose language matters.
  • Assume good faith, especially with newcomers. Many contributors are making their first open-source contribution.
  • Keep it honest. Don't present opinion as research or misrepresent evidence.

Unacceptable behaviour#

Harassment, discriminatory remarks, personal attacks, sustained disruption, sharing others' private information, and retaliation against anyone who reports a concern.

Reporting and enforcement#

Report concerns privately to the editors at the contact address in the repository README. Reports are handled confidentially. Editors may warn, remove content, or ban participants, proportionate to the behaviour; enforcement decisions involving an editor exclude that editor.

Scope#

This code applies in all project spaces and when representing the project publicly.
